The simplest and surest method of determining whether or not your phone is capable of running Go Test Go software is to download a sample test we have created for this purpose. Simply navigate to http://gtg.mp (gtg.mp is a URL just like gotestgo.com BUT you only have to press 6 keys to input gtg.mp on your phone) from your phone, choose Downloads and follow the prompts to use this simple and effective method of determining whether your phone supports Go Test Go software.

Go Test Go will not charge for this sample test, but you should be aware that you will likely incur data charges from your cellular network provider. These charges vary by network provider and whether or not you subscribe to a data package. The sample test is 64k, and cellular network charges should be minor. However, this is the simplest method of answering whether or not your phone supports all Go Test Go software.

If you are interested in learning more about the technical requirements and making your own determination, further explanation is provided below.

Java Requirements

Go Test Go was developed using Java, specifically J2ME MIDlet technology. If you phone supports Java, which is commonly identified by phone manufacturers and cellular network operators as supporting "Downloadable Java Games", or just "Downloadable Games", then it will most likely support Go Test Go software. Additional specifics pertinent to Java versions are found below.

In addition to the general requirements of the previous paragraph, there are a few other requirements with respect to maximum midlet size, phone memory and navigation keys.

Maximum Midlet Jar File Size

Go Test Go Tests are designed not to exceed a maximum Java "jar" file size of 64k. Go Test Go targeted 64k in order to ensure the widest possible number of phones were capable of running our software. Almost every Java enabled phone will support a jar file size of 64k. However, a small number of older phones have slightly smaller capabilities and as a result, not all Go Test Go tests are supported on these phones depending upon actual jar size.

Minimum Memory

Go Test Go Tests are also designed to operate with a minimum amount of program or heap memory. Go Test Go software was targeted to phones that support a minimum of 210k of heap. Once again Go Test Go set this target in order to ensure the widest possible number of phones were capable of running the software. However, like jar size above, a few older phones may once again have lesser capabilities, and not be capable of running Go Test Go software.

Cursor Key

In addition to the memory requirements above, there is also a requirement for a "4 direction" cursor. The right and left cursor is used to navigate between questions, and the up and down cursor is used to move up and down within the questions. The number keypad is used to select potential answers, and provide further navigation capabilities like page up and page down. Absent a "4 direction" cursor, you will not be able to navigate the test questions.

Colour

Go Test Go Testing software makes use of colour for aesthetic reasons only. A number of foreground and background colour combinations are available to choose from. However, the software does not rely upon colour for any functionality. Go Test Go software works on colour and monochrome handsets alike.

Screen Size

Go Test Go software is designed to dynamically adapt to various screen sizes, using as much of the screen as possible for the display of text, and panning when images or text must extend beyond the screen border. Tests are typically developed with an approximate screen width of 120 pixels and a height of 96 pixels, resulting in most graphical images being purposefully limited to this size.

Java Version Specifics

Go Test Go was developed using Java 2 Micro Edition, Connected Limited Device Configuration version 1.0 and Mobile Information Device Profile version 1.0. No manufacturer specific API's are used. Go Test Go software should be compatible with any J2ME CLDC 1.0, MIDP 1.0 AND higher (CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0) handset.
